Children grow up right in front of our eyes, one week, two weeks, a month, six months . . . before you know it they are taking their first steps on their chubby little legs!   Photographing your newborn baby with a professionally trained newborn photographer will be one of the most important decisions you make when you first have your baby.  Newborns don’t stay little forever – if you miss the window you have lost it forever!  And yes, I can still photograph your 4, 5 or 6 week old baby and I can deliver beautiful images – – but your baby will not be that super new, teeny-tiny, flaky, precious newborn!

Newborns pictures are a once in a lifetime event – – if you hire a photographer who is less experienced, or doesn’t specialize in newborns there is a good chance that the final images won’t live up to the quality you would hope for.  Newborn babies change every second and it would be too late to re-do the session at that point with a professional newborn photographer.  I can’t tell you the number of times that I hear “I can’t believe how much he/she has changed already!!  I’m so glad that we decided to work with you!”

Secondly (but certainly NOT less important than) the quality of the final image is the safety of your precious baby.  A newborn photographer is more than just a regular photographer.  She is a substitute caregiver for your baby during the session.  Please don’t settle for the first photographer you find, the one closest to your house, or the least expensive one.  Your newborn photographer will be handling your baby, posing/positioning and soothing.  Look at the body of the photographer’s work, look for a variety of poses, newborns who are perfectly positioned, and look comfortable and content.  Find a photographer that you LOVE, that connects with you, and whose work you can’t live without.  The investment in newborn photography is a certainly a luxury and is worth every penny!
