The first year of a baby’s life is an incredible thing to behold. You start with this tiny, curled up ball of deliciousness that sleeps, eats, cries and poops. After 12 months, just 1 year, you have this chubby little maniac that crawls, maybe walks, stands, laughs, claps, and just plain loves life (and still eats, sleeps and poops). That’s a lot of change in just 1 year! In order to help you document all of this craziness, I’ve created a Baby Milestone Cards free printable just for you!
One of my favorite ways to document my babies as they grew was to take monthly pictures. I love to look back at how quickly they grew and changed from this tiny being into a little, happy person that could stand and smile back at me.
Once you download the printable, all you have to do is print it on cardstock (thicker paper than your average printer paper) and cut out the cards! Each card is sized for a 5” x 7” image. You can cut the picture out and use it as is, or cut it out and put the card in a small frame.
How to use the Baby Milestone Cards
Wondering how to use these adorable little baby milestone cards? I have found the best way to take consistent pictures is to use the same spot, around the same time of day, for each picture. Just wait for a bright day and take the pictures near a window to allow maximum light in.
Lay your baby down on a white blanket (if you have one), place the milestone card near your baby, but far enough away that he/she can’t reach it, and take your picture from several different angles. This is a great time to use the “portrait” setting on your iphone. Don’t worry about being perfect. Have fun with this! If your baby is cranky, wait a day or two. If you’re cranky, wait a day or two! Some of my favorite pictures are actually when my baby’s were crying. That sounds terrible, I know! But, in those screaming pictures, I remember the days as they were and it makes me smile.
Try not to worry about creating a Pinterest perfect moment. You don’t need anything fancy to make these pictures beautiful. You can put your baby in a white onesie and the pictures will be stunning! If your baby has a special toy or blanket, put that in the picture, too. It will be nice to look back at these pictures and remember when his favorite bear had both eyes, or her favorite lion still had hair.
